Writer, teacher DEBRA K. MATTHEWS has Bachelors degrees in Theology and in Organizational Management. She is a licensed minister who has served in various ministry in the same church since the early 1970s, including teaching and holding non-denominational services in Civil Air Patrol (starting in 1970); conducting four to six services a week in nursing homes and skid-row missions; working on crisis and major crusade phone lines; music ministry; Sunday school and children's church ministry; and teaching adult Bible studies.
Deb has written numerous articles, short stories, and four books, including two children's Bible story pop-up books for children's church, and a C.A.P. pocket-sized search-and-rescue guide she self-published and sold all over Washington in the 1970s. Her short stories and articles have appeared in Hearth to Hearth, an online Christian magazine formerly called Vanguard, a U.S. based Romanian magazine Agapa, numerous community newspapers and church publications (including two overseas countries), a book by Youth Specialties called True, Vol. 1, and Debbie Macomber's book One Perfect Word. Deb has been writing for as long as she can remember for her friends, employers, church and other organizations. Deb also taught leadership courses as a side job for The Boeing Company for six years. Her hobbies include reading, writing, hiking, and roaming the waters of the Puget Sound.
