Debra Matthews - Writing/Ministry Bio

Writer, director, teacher and inspirational speaker DEBRA K. MATTHEWS (DebAuthor@msn.com) has Bachelors degrees in Theology and in Organizational Management. She has been active in ministry since the early 1970s, including holding non-denominational services in Civil Air Patrol; conducting four to six services a week in nursing homes and missions; working on crisis and major crusade phone lines; mentoring students of all ages; music ministry; Sunday school and children's church ministry; teaching adult Bible studies; and writing, developing and teaching Bible college curriculum.

Deb has written numerous articles, short stories, and four books, including two children's Bible story pop-up books for children's church, and a C.A.P. pocket-sized search-and-rescue guide she self-published and sold all over Washington in the 1970s. Her short stories and articles have appeared in Hearth to Hearth, an online Christian magazine formerly called Vanguard, a U.S. based Romanian magazine Agapa, several community newspapers, a book by Youth Specialties called True, Vol. 1, and Debbie Macomber's book One Perfect Word. She has been writing for as long as she can remember for her friends, employers, church and other organizations. Deb also taught leadership courses as a side job for The Boeing Company for six years. Her hobbies include reading, writing, hiking, roaming the waters of Puget Sound, making short movies, and her new web project: Healing for America.
